Expert Advice on Bucket Elevator Options

Before we spec out any project, we work directly with you to thoroughly understand your plant flow and business needs. We bring more than 40 years of experience and expertise to the table to help you make the right equipment decision. The type of commodity you’re working with and the speed at which you need to move that material are among several aspects of your application that will influence bucket elevator selection.

Centrifugal bucket elevators are so-named because they use centrifugal force from a spinning action to discharge material from the buckets. These bucket elevators are able to operate at higher speeds for increased output; however, the impact force against the discharge casing can be detrimental to product quality when dealing with fragile materials.

In situations where minimizing product degradation is mandatory, continuous bucket elevators are the recommended conveying equipment. These bucket elevators operate at lower speeds to keep the breakage of brittle, friable materials to a minimum. This operation also makes continuous bucket elevators better suited for handling abrasive or sluggish material.

The decision between a belt bucket elevator or a chain bucket elevator typically depends on product characteristics, capacity, conveying height and budget. With either type of equipment, you can count on CDM to deliver a bucket elevator that’s built with the industry’s most rugged, reliable components.
