Custom, Heavy-Duty Ship Unloaders

A Complete Line of Stationary and Mobile Ship Unloaders

Our experience in En-Masse conveying principles is applied to our complete line of stationary and mobile marine leg unloaders. CDM Marine Leg Unloaders are used throughout the world for safe, effective, and reliable port and river bulk unloading of grain and derivatives.

Our complete line of mechanical marine leg unloaders is engineered to meet your specific needs and offer the same durability as our Drag Chain Conveyors. Offered in stationary or mobile design, the single-leg capacities in mobile units range from 150 to 700 TPH with stationary unloaders reaching 1500 TPH.

Features Include:

  • Self-contained
  • High efficiency
  • Heavy-duty construction
  • Free digging adjustable intakes
  • Single location chain tensioning
  • Variable frequency drives
  • Drop-forged case-hardened chain
  • Segmental rim intake idlers and drive sprockets

CDM En-Masse Marine Legs offer the flexibility to unload bulk material in vertical or inclined configurations. Conventional Belt/Bucket Unloaders operate best in a vertical position, as misalignment or lateral movement can cause the buckets to spill, reducing average hourly rates. Lateral misalignment can also cause belt tracking problems that will initiate premature wear. In severe cases, this wear friction can result in high temperature generation within the leg that can be an ignition source and can cause fire.

The CDM En-Masse Marine Legs are designed with a positive sprocket engagement and a single worm-gear jack for periodic chain tensioning. This engineered design makes the CDM En-Masse Marine Leg safe and reliable for marine bulk unloading applications.

The En-Masse operating concept affords low energy consumption at 90–95% fill efficiency. This efficiency is derived from a continuous column of conveying media, resulting in a smaller piece of equipment that can handle higher hourly rates. The high operating efficiency also enables lower operating speeds and equivalent capacities compared to belt/bucket-style legs.

The Advantages of Mobile Marine Leg Ship Unloaders

Using a Mobile Marine Leg Unloader offers many benefits over the traditional stationary version. Mobile unloaders require less capital investment because no dock or auxiliary structural tower is required. Mobile units also generally cost less than stationary unloaders, sometimes as much as 4x less in up-front purchase costs of stationary units with comparable capacities.

In addition, CDM Mobile Marine Leg Unloaders offer the flexibility of site relocation and the efficiency of placement within the vessel, providing more even draft displacement and minimizing vessel shifting. Mobile Marine Leg Unloaders can be used as needed and easily transported to another location.

Using the same reliable En-Masse principles as the CDM conveyors, the Mobile Marine Legs can handle a wide range of bulk material in challenging operating environments while maintaining reliable operation with minimal maintenance.
